At the 1904 World's Fair, both Geronimo and 1,200 Filipinos were exhibited as living specimens of American colonial acquisition. Ada finds a letter Geronimo wrote to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs — intercepted and never delivered. In it, he names six men at the Fair with direct knowledge of the order for Wounded Knee and describes a document he was shown and refused to sign. The document still exists. It has fourteen signatures.
