The Visitor

Over five nights in 1903, eight witnesses in Van Meter reported the same entity at the same location. Ada finds the original police captain's suppressed report — not because of the creature, but because of the witness it would have discredited: the town physician, who described something the captain believed would destroy the man if published. What the physician described matches a documented military field experiment active in Iowa in 1903.
