Two hydrogen bombs fell on North Carolina in 1961 when a B-52 broke apart in flight. One armed itself on impact. The Air Force technician who manually safed the weapon is the last living link to what actually happened. He was told to say there were five safety switches. He counted three. The government declassified a four-switch account in 2013. No one asked about the fifth. He has been waiting for someone to ask.
